Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having a acute itching near groin and anus. I consulted so many dermatologists; they have diagnosed for tinea cruris. but after taking medicines prescribed by them along with oral cream, no use for permanent solution. Kindly advise whether I can use Tenovate cream
Tenovate ointment contains 'Clobetasol Topical' as an active ingredient. It is a very strong corticosteroid having a very high potency. It is used for inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of various cutaneous disorders.
Tinea cruris is a fungal infection in the groin area. Tinea cruris is best treated with topical antifungal medications such as clotrimazole or miconazole. The benefits of the use of topical steroids in addition to an antifungal is unclear. Kindly consult Dermatologist before use of such creams over the lesion. It is also important to keep the groin area clean and dry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
