Is Regestrone Advisable For Irregular Periods During Menopause?

I am 46 hrs old going through peri menopausal phase. I have been suggested to take regestrone 4 yrs ago when i started uncontrolled bleeding. Every 3-6 months i give a gap of couple of months when the bleeding is normal. I got my periods after 3 months & now bleeding since 10 days. I started Xamic MF 5 days ago but no effect. Should I start off regestrone now?

Hi,

You need to get a fresh hormonal profile and accordingly start hormonal replacement therapy after a review with a gynecologist. Meanwhile, you can use Progesterone as previously advised but since progesterone only pills have side effects so must be balanced according to hormonal profile as well as to monitor other related perimenopausal symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
