Is Prednisone Effective In The Treatment Of Vertigo?

I have been taking 5mg of prednisone for two weeks. By accident, I found that it takes away my nausea, and dizziness from my positional vertigo. My next appointment with my ear doctor is in a week. Is it safe to continue using prednisone at this low dosage, and, have you ever heard of it being used for vertigo? I feel great for the first time in a long time. It saved our family Christmas.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Prednisone can reduce the vertigo associated with inner ear inflammation, meniers disease it positional vertigo. Since you are only on 5 mg, you can continue the prednisone for one more week and follow up with your ENT specialist. However, you should not continue taking prednisone for longer periods without consulting your doctor.
