Is Norethisterone Effective In Stopping Vaginal Bleeding?

I started a normal period on day 1 and bled until day 9/10 ((normal for me) i have had very light spotting with some clots since now day 28 I have Norethisterone 5mg, if I take 5 days worth will it cease the bleeding and then cause me to re start my period starting again? I’m trying to conceive so having a normal period and ‘re-setting’ my cycle with northisterone would be a good thing for me!

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You have to consider visiting a gynecologist and do an ultrasound and blood test. Such long periods are not normal. Your gynecologist should see for anatomical concern and for a hormonal insufficiency causing you this situation. Also the blood count needs to be evaluated to see for coagulation problems, platelet count and coagulation factors.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
