Is Fortzaar An Accurate Alternative For Hyzaar Forte In Order To Treat Hypertension?

I have been taking Hyzaar Forte 100/25 for a couple of years for my hypertension. Recently over the holiday season I ran out of medication. I asked my friend who was from another country to get it for me. He also has hypertension. Instead he brought Fortzaar 100/25. According to the pharmacist it is the same medicine. Both are manufactured by MSD. So far I only took 2 tablets but I got worried and stopped.

Hi. Welcome to HCM forum. Hyzaar forte 100/25 contains Losartan pottasium 100 mg and hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg. It is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, for patients in whom combination therapy is appropriate. To be specific it is indicated in hypertensive Patients with Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (means left ventricle of heart muscle thickened). Fortzaar also contains exactly same medications as Hyzaar forte. These two are manufactured by same company that is MSD. Their is no need to worry and u can take Fortzaar till your Hyzaar forte are available. Wish u good health. Regards.
