Is Benedryl Advisable To Treat Blisters On The Body In A Child?
Thank you. I have our Grandson for 2 weeks & his parents come home tonight. He work up late today after not sleeping well, and has blisters on his little hands.....one by the ear, and some on the feet. I know he can NOT have peanuts & have been careful about that. He is cutting back teeth an has run a fever a couple of days...gave him baby Tylenol & Advil for that..all is fine but now the blisters. He had a bit of diarrhea and bottom rash we had nystatin for, 3 times a day. Yes, the Grandmother of a 2 year old is freaking our right now. What shall I do?n HELP! WIll Baby Benedryl be OK? Think we have some of it.
Dermatologic conditions are hard to discuss without seeing them. Baby benadryl has a high margin of safety. THe immune system is not fully developed at all at 2 weeks and minor infections 1) can be more severe and 2) frequently have odd reactions that are NOT serious. So, signs of severity can be quite difficult under a month. IN theory fever, redness, crying, and/or being very listless and not feeding well. And, if they seem fine... that's a pretty good sign. So, there frequently are odd rashes in otherwise healthy seeming babies.
Basically, although I cannot say for sure without being there, it's the overall "how sick the baby seems" as the main indicator.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
