Is Beclomethasone Dipropionate Effective In The Treatment Of Itching In The Scrotum?

Hey doc, For a week I am developing some flaky dead skin lesions on scrotum skin folds. It doesn t always itch. But when it itches, it gets red with stinging burning sensation. But after using some moisturizer. It calms down a little. But it gets worse when in contact with water. Can I use Beclometasone Dipropionate for releif.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your itching may be due to Eczema or a fungal infection. Eczema would get better with Beclomethazone and is an appropriate treatment. But if you have a fungal infection, then Beclomethazone decreases the itching but may make the infection worse. So it may be better to see a skin specialist, get yourself examined and tested before using the powerful steroid medication. Do get back to me if you have further questions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
