Is Bacitracin Effective For Hemorrhoids?

I have been suffering from hemroids for a while now. Sometimes they are bairly noticable while other times they are uncomfortable and even painful. I read that some people have used bacitracin on their hemroids and experienced sufficient relief, however it says on the tube for external use only . Dose this meen it should not be used in the anus?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
No bacitracin should not be much effective for haemorrhoids. Actually bacitracin is a broad spectrum antibacterial ointment, which is effective for external skin infections. However hemorrhoids are not infection, they are swollen blood vessels in rectum or anus.
Usual cause of hemorrhoids is constipation & over exertion during defecation. Avoiding constipation would help hemorrhoids to heal. Take balanced diet rich in fibres. Take more water to drink throughout the day. Taking laxatives at bedtime could be helpful in severe constipation. Surgical treatment may also be required in some cases.

If problem persist visit a gastroenterologist

Hope this helps
