Injury And Bruises On Tailbone, Bumps, Have Scar Tissues. What Is The Reason?

Hi. A couple of years ago I fell and injured and bruised myself near my tailbone. Now there is a bump where it was bruised and at times causes pain/achiness down my leg and butt. I thought it was just scar tissue once it healed but from time to time it bothers me. Should I be concerned or have it looked at? Thank you.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Generally, couple of years old injury should not cause you any problems now. I suspect that you could be having a lumbar disc protrusion causing pressure on the nerve roots producing pain down the leg.

An MRI scan of the Lumbar spine is necessary to diagnose a disc protrusion.

I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for a detailed evaluation and further management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
