Infant Had All Vaccinations, Not Sure Of One. Is It Safe If Baby Receives One More Dose Of OPV This Week Again, Assuming That The Lab Worker Has Given It Already?

Hi Sir, My 5 Days old Baby Boy had received his first set of Vaccination i.e, BCG, OPV and Hepatitis-B yesterday i.e on 3rd July 2013, but i am not sure that the Lab worker has given the OPV drops to my babay, Is it safe if my baby receives one more dose of OPV this week again, assuming that the lab worker has given it already.

Dear user,

There is absolutely nothing wrong if the child receives an extra dose of OPV, nor is there any danger of side effects, interference with immunity or any other problem. Be rest assured about this.

Disclaimer: A very very rare side-effect of oral polio vaccine that is seen one in a million is the occurrence of weakness due to an activated virus in the vaccine. Hardly seen, but I must make this clear so that you are informed about this. This is called VDPV (vaccine-derived polio virus) and you might want to google this before you are sure. In practical terms, VDPV is never a concern as it is extremely rare.
