In The Beginning Of Bladder Infection, Took Tylenol. Asked To Drink Craneberry Juice. Suggest?

Hi Dr. Grief ...... I think I'm in the beginning stages of a bladder infection. And when I get one, it's often very painful right from the start. Since the clincs are closed now, I took 2 extra strength tylenol. My neighbor told me to start drinking cranberry juice to stop the infection. I don't know about that suggestion. If heard both "yes" and "no" for working. I know when I call for my doc tomorrow, I won't be able to see him for a few days which is way too late. Can he call in an Rx for me without him seeing me first ? Thanks - denise

Hi,
Tynelol or cranberry juice is not specific for bladder infection.
If your doctor is not available for next few days, you should-
* get your morning urine sample tested for routine & microscopic examination.
& keep the reports as basic information for your doctor. * You can start taking
-Nalidixic acid/ Norfloxicin preparation (which ever suits you) 1 pill twice a day after food
- Tablet of Phenazopyridine hydrochloride - twice a day.
- Alkaline mixture with plenty of water 2 to 3 times a day
Take for 5 days that should suffice. Confirm the cure by consulting your doctor.
Thanks.
