If these palpitations occur often enough, your cardiologist may recommend you wear a holter monitor
for a while. This is similar to a 24 hour/day EKG. It will monitor for any abnormal rhythms (ventricular tachycardia
, PVC's etc.) and store the occurrence when it happens. Your cardiologist can then review these events and discuss the best plan for you.
People often have palpitations, but the fact your are symptomatic with them, is worrisome.
