What May Be The Cause For Lower Abdominal Pain And Heavy Menstrual Bleeding?

I began spotting on September 19th to the 21st. It would start and then stop and was very light. Which is unusual for me. I began to have nausea, breast pain, and fatigue, which made me believe I may be pregnant but the test was negative. Then the same thing occured again on October 8th and 9th. Yesterday, October 26th, I suddenly started getting extreme pains in my lower abdomen and uterus as well as bleeding very heavily. I m wondering what would cause this.

Hi.

I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.

Heavy blood flow with unusually large clots may be due to hormonal changes, Intra uterine devices, diseases like Fibroids, endometriosis etc. I advice you to,
- count the no.of pads your are changing per day, in order to assess the blood flow. If it's morethan normal, you need consult a gynaecologist for further assistance.
- to do USG pelvis to find out the underlying disease if any.
- Take tab. Mefenamic acid thrice daily.
- Take plenty of fluids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
