How To Treat Ruptured Cyst Leading To Severe Pain On Left Wrist?

My 5 year old daughter has had a ganglion cyst on her left wrist on top of the artery since she was 2. She just came and showed me it burst and is complaining of pain when she bends or puts pressure on it. She has never complained of any pain or discomfort from the cyst before. Is this normal?

Hi,

Does the swelling disappear?- indicating rupture

This do happen occasionally. Actually, this was one form of treatment used long back. But most of the times, this will recur as the wall of the cyst is still there.

Just give her paracetamol (ibuprofen if not responding) three times daily for 3 days. Take her to doctor if swelling progresses or pain is not coming down.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
