How To Treat Red Rashes On Body?

I got a red rash on my most of my body but especially on my torso sides, back of thighs, and stomach. This began right after I had a bad cough for one week (a virus?). After a few days of the rash, my skin has become sticky - especially in folds of elbows, behind knees, etc.. A strong cortisone ointment did help the rash to lessen considerably but the stickiness is still there.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

I can understand your concern for the rashes on your body. It appears to be a rash related to viral infection in your case. As you have cough along with rest of systemic features so a possibility of viral rash is more.
In my patients I suggest them to take rest for few days. A calamine containing lotion can be used to apply gently over the affected area and can take antihistamine tablets such as cetrizine or benadryl.
Wear cotton clothes and maintain a good hygiene. Get treated for the cough and the related symptoms.
All the best.
