How To Treat Itchy Skin Rashes In Upper Thigh?

Hello, I have a major skin rash on my front upper thighs unilaterally. It is unbearably itchy, however it is relieved with benadryl and eczema cream. I am a nurse myself, so I ve been watching it. It started last Tuesday and has not yet gone away. A few things have come to mind: I was bitten about a month ago which turned into a large purple are on my thigh and went away in a week. No other signs surfaced (I assumed it was a spider). Second thing: I ate a handful of macadamia nuts on tues/weds but have not eaten them since. Thoughts?

Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.
It seems you are suffering from Tinea cruris and corporis, a kind of fungal infection.
I would suggest you to consult your dermatologist for proper management of the condition.
I usually recommend proper course of oral anti-fungal drugs like Fluconazole or Itraconazole along with anti-fungal cream like luliconazole for local application at bedtime. You can additionally use antifungal dusting powder containing sertaconazole during day time and a soap containing ketoconazole for rinsing of affected areas. Take oral antihistaminics for itching as required.
Maintain hygiene over those areas and avoid wearing tight undergarments.
