Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having problems when I have a bowel movement. I went for a flexible sigmoidoscopy about 4 months ago as I have pain and bleeding. I have had Irritable Bowel Syndrome since I was a child and they said that there was no hemorrhoids but because I have strained for so long when going to the bathroom the muscles have weakened in the rectum and that is what is causing the pain and bleeding. The problem is as I am eating better to try and clear my bowels regularly I am going to the bathroom more frequently and it is making the situation so much worse, it gets more painful each time and the discomfort lasts for longer afterwards. The doctors didn't give me any cream or treatment or any info on how I can fix the problem so how do I ease the pain and discomfort so I can be more comfortable?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The painful stools are in relation to inflammation inside the bowels due to an inflammatory bowel condition. Basic control of the IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) will only help to treat the painful stools. In our hospital, I recommend :
- Hydration maintenance with plenty of liquids. - Strict dietary measures. - Regular basis GI specific antibiotics, probiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs with molecules controlling capillary bleed will help to recover early. So discuss with your doctor regarding the same.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
