How To Treat Dry Lips, Mouth And Throat?

Hi, for the past one week my lips are super dry and has turned white in color. But, It doesn't flake. My mouth and throat feels dry and I am always thirsty. Summer has started where I live and it is getting very hot. We have some home remodelling going on in our house and I am more stressed than before managing everything and taking care of the kids.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per the explanation you have "DRY MOUTH" or "XEROSTOMIA" and the dryness of mouth causes dryness and irritation in throat along with CHAPPED LIPS.

The cause of dry mouth can be simply dehydration which can occur due to lack of drinking water in conditions of excessive stress and work load..

The other causes of dry mouth can be intake of certain medicines like Blood pressure reducing medicines,, salivary gland disorders, nerve damage that supplies salivary glands, Autoimmune diseases like Sjogren's syndrome, infections like Thrush, etc..

In your case it seems to be due to dehydration which is also causing Chapped lips..

I would suggest you to drink around 4 to 5 litres of water a day to maintain hydration..
Apply petroleum jelly over the lips or beeswax containing lip balms as they lubricate the lips as well as locks moistures over the lips..
Avoid sucking or licking the lips..

In case if still you do not find relief from dry mouth you should consult a dentist or a physician and get ruled out for other possible underlying causes of the dry mouth..
Saliva substitutes are available containing methyl cellulose can be instilled in mouth for lubrication..
Saliva stimulants like Lemon drops, Citrus candies and sugar free chewing gums can be taken as they stimulate saliva flow..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
