Hello, this is the 3rd bartholin abcess cyst I have had drained last week. I had the catheter but it fell out after 6 days. There is no pain but it feels sore to the touch and almost full down there. I feel a little itchy and sometimes a twinge. When I ppress down therr it doesn t feel hard. I am so scared for it to come back. I take sitz baths 4 times a day. Is it healing?
Hello, I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Yes. It is healing now. Because your pain is decreased and it does not hard. You just have the tenderness, it is due to the inflammation.
Continue the Sitz bath regularly. As your Bartholin cyst abscess is recurring, i would like to suggest to go for Marsupialisation of the abscess and following antibiotics. In this procedure, the simple cut is made and kept open by stitching the edges to the skin for draining of pus. Even though it looks traditional, it is effective in case of recurrent bartholin abscess. Also the recurrence rate is very low comparing to other catheter techniques.
Hope this helps. Please write back for further queries. Wishing you good health.
