How To Test For Genital Herpes?

after having unprotected sex for 5 months with this girl. lets call her the "witch", she tells me that she has herpes type 2 genital herpes. I was so stupid not to protect myself. I never showed any symptoms. I know that I can be asymptomatic. I got a blood test for antibodies and it came up positive. I am going to get the type specific blood test. If I test positive for type 1 only. Can I assume that i did not get infected from that witch?

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
Both oral and genital herpes can be transmitted by sexual contact by oral or vaginal or anal.
Whenever skin comes in contact with the skin or mucosa comes in contact of mucosa or mucosa and skin all these can transmit this herpes.
If it is occurring in the genitals it is called as genital herpes, same thing occurring in and around the oral cavity it is called as oral herpes.
Testing for HSV 1 or HSV 2 will confirm whether you are having herpes or not, it will not rule out which herpes you got from your partner.
I am reinforcing that both the herpes can to transmitted by sexual contact.
Thank you.
