How To Safely Wean Off Morphine, Being Taken For Chronic Pain Following A Brain Aneurysm?
Hey there I am a 53 years old female I have been taking morphine for two years for chronic pain after having a brain anyersm .My doctor is pushing me to detox. Today I have not had a dose for 24hrs I am wondering what to expect, so far I feel tired bit sore and am in bed resting.I havecut down from 40mgs per day to 30mgs per day over the last month.
It would have been easier for you to have tapered morphine further from 30 mg per day to less before stopping. That would have reduced the withdrawal symptoms. Now that you have been off morphine for more than a day, you need to hold on for a few more days. The usual symptoms are body ache, running nose, sneezing, watering from eyes, sleep difficulty, nausea, dilated pupils, restlessness, loose motions etc. This will be gone in a week. Till then, just remember to take lots of fluids, eat light food in adequate amounts and use over the counter medicines like Tylenol and antacids if required.
Hope this is of help. Best wishes.
