How To Reduce Chance Of Bone Infection After Having Hammertoe Surgery?

Recently I had hammertoe surgery and I m afraid I have a bone infection. My doctor told me that it was not to worry about unless there was drainage coming from the pin site. I have recently discovered that there is and until I can get antibiotics I would like to know what I can do to decrease the chance of a serious bone infection.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It doesn't sound like bone infection at the moment as with that high grade fever local tenderness and severe pain may have been experienced which doesn't seem to.be the case. For reassurance orthopedic surgeon review may be needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
