How To Reduce Back Pain When Diagnosed With Bulge Between L5S1?

Hi! My husband suffers from severe back paine, we ve waited 6 months for an MRI and finally got the results, the disk between L5S1 is bulging, pressing on the roots of the nerve. Are there any exercises/remedies that can help reduce the pain? he s been in so much pain and has taken so much medication, we don t know what to do naymore...I really appreciate your answer, I m writting from Canada. Thank you!

thank you for asking your concern and welcome to HCM. this is prolapsed intervertebral disc and L5 S1 is the most common prolapse. for PIVD physiotherapy is the most important and indivisible part of treatment. i suggest you to consult a physiotherapyst and have a followup plan. it will help in reliveing pain as well as improve mobility also. the only thing is you should have patience because it is time consuming. various kinds of pain killers can be tried like paracetamol, brufen, some opioid analgesics also. you need to consult a doctor for this because medicines also may need to take for 2-3 weeks. if there is any problem with bowel and bladder movement or sensation or power in legs then you must go to the hospital as early as possible.
