Life style changes may help. You'd need to lose weight if you are overweight, this would really help. Also make sure that you exercise and reduce sodium in the diet and eat healthily. If none of these measures work, or you have medical risk factors and/or your BP is >150+ then I would advise that you take anti-hypertensive medication because the greater the BP, the greater the stroke risk.
