How To Interpret Ultrasound Scan Results Of Uterus?

The results of my ultrasound state that I have Anteverted bulky uterus with a volume of 440cc. There are numerous large fibroids, the largest in the anterior funds measuring 77mm and posterior body 63mm. Some of the fibroids are submucosal [WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?] distorting the endometrium [IS THAT A PROBLEM?]. Endometrial thickness hence could not be adequately visualised, [I HAPPEN TO HAVE STARTED MENSTRUATING THAT SAME DAY THE SCANS WERE DONE, I M CURIOUS AS TO WHY THE DOCTORS DIDN T FACTOR THIS IN. MAY THIS BE THE REASON WHY NOTHING COULD BE VISUALISED?], but appear normal. No adnexal mass or pelvic free fluid. Conclusion: Large fibroid uterus.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of the ultrasound report is as follows:
The position of the uterus is normal i.e. anteverted. Anteversion is the normal position of the uterus.
There is presence of multiple fibroids larger one measuring 6 cm and 7 cm in posterior wall and anterior wall of the uterus respectively.
Fibroids are benign tumors arising from the smooth muscles of the myometrium.
One of the fibroid is sub-mucosal.
Submucosal fibroid is one which the fibroid protrudes into the endometrial cavity.
Since, the submucosal fibroid is protruding into the endometrial cavity, the thickness of the endometrium cannot be estimated.
The submucosal fibroid is disorting the endometrial cavity also.
Presence of large sized fibroids can cause menstrual irregularities.

Thanks and take care
