How To Get Rid Of Opium Tablets?

Dear Sir, I have been addicted to opium since llast many years. I got admitted myself twice but with no results. I have been taking Bupen Forte plus from last one one month. I started with one in the morning and one in the evening and later on reduced it to half at both the times. Can I stop taking these now? I am ready to bear some uneasiness but want to get rid of these. I want to know if I can afford to leave it altogether or substitute it with some general medicine which can be available over the counter. Please answer my query as soon as possible.Regards.

Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

I can understand your concern. You were taking Opioid tablets and later started Buprenorphine tablets. If we consider pharmacology of drug then the drug is a partial opioid agonist. The drug acts by reducing the withdrawal effects of opioids, and it's dose should be tapered gradually once individual become stabilised on it. You are taking half tablet twice a day and in my opinion the dose should be reduced further to half tablet in evening for about two more weeks and then you can stop the drug completely.

To relieve pain and restlessness drugs like Pregabalin or Gabapentin can be used for some time. Theese drugs will reduce anxiety and craving and will help in better functioning. Visit a doctor for proper prescription.

Thanks, hope this helps you
