i get tonsil stones alot, like several times a week and sometime they dislodge in the middle of the night and wake me up... but for the past 3days i feel like one is stuck in my epiglottis... is this possible and if so what can i do cuz it is very bothersome tring to swallow.. thanks
Tonsil stones occur when you get recurrent tonsil infections and/or if you have large tonsillar crypts or holes in the tissues of tonsils. They do not usually cause any block in the epiglottis which is in all probability due to some other cause such as infection or reflux.
In case you are getting recurrent stones then the only permanent treatment is the removal of tonsils which is a simple procedure in good hands. I have done more than three thousand of such cases and you can get back to me or any ENT for the same.
Meanwhile start a course of antibiotic like amox-clav along with anti reflux like pantoprazole in consultation with your doctor and do not try to remove the stones by yourself.
