How To Control Severe Anger In A 9 Years Old Child?

I am a school nurse and I have a 9 year old male student that has anger issues and seems to go out of control for no apparent reason. I have been monitoring his pulse ox and at times when he is out of control it will drop to the low 80 s and as he starts to calm down it will go back to the low to mid 90 s. There is no history of asthma or any signs of any wheezing, coughing or hyperventilation. Could the low pulse ox indicate that his blood oxygenation is contributing to his moods?

Hi...I feel that he might be having temper tantrums. If low oxygen in the blood is the reason for this he should be anxious and irritable and not throwing tantrums.

Tantrums may happen when kids are tired, hungry, or uncomfortable; or because they can't get something (for example, an object or a parent) to do what they want. Learning to deal with frustration is a skill that children gain over time.

Tantrums are common during the second year of life, a time when language skills are starting to develop. As language skills improve, tantrums tend to decrease.

This is what you can do to avoid or prevent tantrums -
1. Give plenty of positive attention
2. Try to give toddlers some control over little things
3. Keep off-limits objects out of sight and out of reach
4. Distract your child
5. Help kids learn new skills and succeed
6. Consider the request carefully when your child wants something
7. Know your child's limits
