How To Confirm Herpes Type Two?

Hello, I have been dating my boyfriend for two years, and we now live together. We have a great relationship, but last week I went to an after hour clinic because I thought I had another yeast infection. Turns out it was herpes type two. I was devastated. Is there any way of knowing how long I may have had the virus? It wasn t really painful, just uncomfortable. Thanks,

Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
It is very difficult to say the exact duration of Genital Herpes. But if you do the IgM and IgG antibody test for HSV type 2, and if the IgM is positive it indicates an recent infection (within 3 months), and if the IgG is positive then you have the disease more than 6 months. It is not a dangerous disease and the recurrence is the nuisance and we can suppress the virus with drugs and can prevent recurrence.
