How To Avoid Weight Gain While On Anticoagulants And Possibly Lose Weight?
A few days ago I had an ultrasound that uncovered a DVT in my left thigh. I had knee surgery in January. I have read about side affects including weight gain; I am already 45 pounds overweight due to inactivity since my surgery. I am now on lovenox and coumadin. How can I avoid weight gain while on the drug and possibly lose weight?
Some medications can be associated with weight gain. They can do this in different ways including: increasing appetite, altering metabolism, affecting fullness, affecting energy level
To prevent weight gain you would need to carefully monitor your diet and activity . Even if your appetite is increased, if you use only healthy foods then weight gain will not occur. You would also need to find a way to safe way to be active (that would not affect your knee).
I hope this helps
