How To Avoid Weight Gain While On Anticoagulants And Possibly Lose Weight?

A few days ago I had an ultrasound that uncovered a DVT in my left thigh. I had knee surgery in January. I have read about side affects including weight gain; I am already 45 pounds overweight due to inactivity since my surgery. I am now on lovenox and coumadin. How can I avoid weight gain while on the drug and possibly lose weight?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Some medications can be associated with weight gain. They can do this in different ways including: increasing appetite, altering metabolism, affecting fullness, affecting energy level

To prevent weight gain you would need to carefully monitor your diet and activity . Even if your appetite is increased, if you use only healthy foods then weight gain will not occur.
You would also need to find a way to safe way to be active (that would not affect your knee).

I hope this helps
