Hi,

Is the pain severe enough to make the child cry? Where exactly is the pain? Any problem with motion or urine? Is there any vomiting? Can you send the ultrasound report if any?

It is common for children to have some pain around the umbilicus. This is called functional abdominal pain, and is usually only a mild-moderate pain.

We need a physical examination, followed sometimes by a urine routine, blood count with ESR and ultrasound abdomen to ascertain. Kindly discuss with your pediatrician.

Meanwhile give her paracetamol for pain relief when needed. Also avoid caffeinated drinks/sweets, take plenty of fruits and vegetables and drink enough water.

Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
