How Long Will A Pregnancy Test Show Positive After Abortion?

I hope your online now. September 16th I did a at home pregnancy test it came out postive , my husband and I went in to the clinic and it was postive we decided to have the abortion (the pill) the abortion happen October 30th 2014 I was 6 weeks. It s been 8 weeks now I have no period I took a at home test and its postive. Could this be true? I m just very anxious right because idk how this could have happen. Could the test still read postive at 8 weeks?

Hi!there must be something wrong in your case!

Well when a patient comes to consult me about such history/situation I have some possibilities in my mind:

1. incomplete abortion

2. molar pregnancy

3. faulty pregnancy test (repeated one)

So, anyways this is not normal; usually pregnancy test should become negative after 48 hours following a complete abortion or baby delivery.

Therefore, you must see your gynecologist for immediate opinion and possibly USG/Blood pregnancy tests and the appropriate management.
