How Long Should Elestra, Metformin Hydrochloride And Cabergoline Be Taken For The Treatment Of PCOS?
Hi doctor. I am 29 year old female and have an year old baby. 2 months back i was diagnosed with PCOS. My doctor suggested me medicines like elestra( cyproterone acetate & ethinlestradiol tablets), metformin hydrochloride sustaine release tablets and cabergoline tablets as my prolactin was high( 76). I am taking these medicines since last 2 months. Before my period was not regular but after taking the medicine i am getting regular periods. My doctor told me that i am having this problem because of my weight.. As i am obes with 83 kg of weight.after my doctor advice i am doing regular workout and exercise and have also lost around 3.5 kg weight. My question to you is for how long do i need to continue these medicine ? secondly i want to know that after stopping the medicines will i have my periods on time?
These medications are usually given for 6 months in a row for PCOS. Periods will be regular if your hormonal disturbance improves and you loose weight.
