How Long Does The Depressive State Last In Case Of Alzheimer's?

My mother has Alzeimers and I am her only caregiver. She is at a stage where she gets very hateful after the sun goes down (sundowners ?).

I,m wondering how long this stage will last and how bad it will get. I,m desperate!

Thank You

The aggression, depression and other psychological and behavioral problems in Alzheimer's disease are more problematic in mild to moderate stage. As the person progresses from moderate to severe stage, these problematic behaviors decrease. The person becomes more quiet and placid. Though the self care worsens and there is further cognitive/intellectual deterioration, managing the patient is easier.
Dealing with aggression of an dementia person is difficult for the caregiver. Here are a few things that will help.
Don't take her aggression or hate personally. She would be hateful towards anyone who is close to her.
Try to find out if there are specific things that triggers for her problem behaviors.
Make sure that you get enough rest, enough sleep and enough leisure time.
I hope this answer is helpful.
