How Long Does It Take For A 5th Metatarsal Fracture To Heal ?

I am a 58 y/o post menapausal female, morbidly obese with a 5th metatarsal fracture for 7 months. ORIF with screw failed and a plate with 5 screws was inserted 2.5 weeks ago. How long does it take to heal if there is a question of osteoporosis? Will it heal?

Hi,P.Roberts.
Thanks for query.
generally within 4-5 weeks it heals but as you have osteoporosis it may take longer time.
I doubt about healing as your screw failed due to osteoporosis but still with plate there are bright chances of healing.
Take high dose of Vit D,A. and good brand high calcium for some time.
ok and bye.
