How Long Does Amlodipine Besylate Stay In The Body?

i have been recently put on Amlodipine Besylate 5 mg. this replaced my hydro water pill. i have been diagnosed with 3 stage renal failure. My nephrologist says i never should have been on any diurectic. Will this new bld pressure med take a while toget in my system. I have been on it for 10 days with my lowest reading 119/50 and my highest 166/56 pressure around 144/53. And all in between. I am a little concerned. My doctor wants me back in 7 weeks with my blood pressure report. Do I need to contacd him sooner with these readings? Thank you!

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Amlodipine is not a diuretic and this it will not affect your kidneys.

You can either continue amlodipine or switch to alternatives like lisinopril.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
