My husband had a terrible reaction to SMZ/TMP DS 2 weeks ago six days after starting a regimen of 1 tablet, 2X a day. He had a bad rash, blood blisters, hallucinations, weakness in his legs, dizziness, clouded thinking ability, erratic blood pressure, extreme tiredness, loss of interest, wheezing, He displayed symptoms of congestive heart failure and a stroke, but tests proved that it was all part of the drug reaction. His GP gave him a shot of dexamethasone, and did some blood work, but has not found anything in the blood tests he ran. He s still very weak, and his blood pressure will now range from normal range while standing, and drop to 100/60 immediately when he sits down. He falls asleep while sitting in a chair carrying on a conversation. Right after the reaction, his heart rate was very low, Is it true that he should be well by now from the after-effects of this drug reaction?
