my son met with an accident 14 months ago and went through multiple surgeries, all his other body parts are now started functioning but has a leakage problem in the rectum and has to carry a bag for urine and laterene. all the doctors at apolo calcutta have given a no, saying we cannot help any more. please help him...

Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the issue sounds to be related to neurologic derangement through the injury affecting the voluntary control of urination and stooling.

There can be various outcomes and management guidelines figured on the clinical examination, symptoms and signs of the condition and an office visit to consultant surgeon is recommended here.

In my clinic, I do recommend to undertake an MRI of the pelvis with sphincter evaluation via Nerve conduction velocity and uroflowmetry as well.
