Hello,

Ringworm Infection of the Beard is a contagious fungal infection that develops due to poor hygiene and prolonged warm moist conditions.

This condition, which is not so frequently seen nowadays, mainly affects male individuals, usually spreading from farm animals.

Topical formulations with antifungal compounds (eg, shampoo, lotion, cream) can be applied, but tinea barbae requires oral antifungal therapy.

So far as medical treatment is concerned, you did not mention which oral antifungal has been prescribed to you.

But let me tell you that newer antifungals, especially terbinafine gives excellent results in tinea barbae infection of beard.

Itraconazole can be recommended as one-pulse therapy at a dosage of 400 mg/d divided into 2 doses for 1 week.

Shaving or hair depilation is recommended with warm compresses to remove crusts and debris.

I suggest please talk to your primary care physician or a dermatologist for a prescription of Terbinafine or further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
