How Can Severe Migraine Be Treated?

hello, I m taking Tizanidine, one tablet each night for neck pain/headaches daily, since I started taking this on 7/3 my headaches and neckpain subsided but I dont want to depend on taking muscle relaxers all the time. Last week I didn t take one and the next evening I got a horrible migraine for 4 days.

Hi,
I had gone through your question I can understand your concerns.
Muscle relaxants will not help you directly for migraine but the neck pain can lead to migrainous episode.
Accute migraine attack has following management ;
.. Take a complete rest when you feel throbing headache.
.. Close the lights of room off.
.. Avoid any type of noise around you.
.. Don't do any type of movement.
.. You can take any of non steroidal anti inflammatory drug like paracetamol at that time. Drugs like naproxin is highly effective in acute migraine attacks.
If you have repeated episodes of migraine you need to take prophylaxis for it like propranolol for at least 4-6 months. But you must consult a physician before taking prophylaxis.
Hope my answer will help you. Provide your feed back it will be appreciated.
