How Can Severe Fatigue And Obesity Be Treated?

I suffered a stroke 21 years ago due to a brain tumor. I am about 100 pounds heavier. I cannot lose weight. I struggle to maintain 250. I am as active as I can be given my physical limitations. I am on very few medications. I swear it feels like there is a switch within me that has been flipped off and needs to be turned back on. I do not overeat often. I try to eat healthy. I am only 51 years old. I am tired of the struggle and the fatigue. I am still teaching.

I had seen your history and can understand your concerns. As per your history you had stroke 21 years ago. So it was no way related to your present problem. You were on a very few medications, so no way of side effects. The probable cause of obesity might be hereditary. Severe fatigue might be due to diabetes, hypothyroidism, anemia or depression.

You have to go for following investigations to know the exact cause of fatigue:
1. complete blood picture
2. fasting and post prandial blood glucose levels
3. thyroid profile (T3, T4, TSH)
4. check for any depressing factors
5. Body mass index

Coming to treatment part you have follow the below thing to control fatigue and obesity:
1. vitamin -B supplements
2. diet rich in potassium and magnesium
3. eliminate allergens in food
4. increased physical activity
5. take more friuts
6. high fibre diet and low carbohydrates (ketogenic diet)

There is no need to worry as this can be solved by conservative treatment itself. Hope you could understand all the relevant aspects and act accordingly.
