How Can Severe Depression, Weight Loss And Behaviors Of Mental Breakdown After Losing One's Job Be Treated?

HI, I have a friend who is 61 who is struggling after a loss of her job...she almost seems like she s had a mental breakdown...not showering, no interest in doing anything, very sensitive and irritable to her husband. She has lost 20 lbs. over the last 4 months, no appetite, bizarre behavior. We are trying to get her to a dr. , but she doesn t want to go, hasn t been in years....any suggestions?

dear
her behaviour cn be due to depression which presents with persistent sadness of mood ,low energy levels, decrease interest in activities ,disturbed appetite and concentration as in this case.
It can also be prodrome of psychosis . More detailed history is needed.
but all this symptoms warrants early intervention
Regards
