How Can Severe Cough Be Treated?

Hi my husband has been coughing for weeks now it is a dry cough. Can I give him the celastmine tablets that was a script from his doctor for his allergies towards bees. I am worried because it is really getting bad now. He is 59 and of very slim build. And also a heavy snoker. Please help with advice.

* My recommendations at present for the severe cough issue

- He has to stop smoking at present
- Inhalation of vapors of boiled water added tincture benzoin helps tremendously.
- Should prefer semi reclining position during rest.
- Deep breathing exercises help great.
- Can give Celastmine, but a help from prescription of doc in terms of antibiotic and bronchodilator as deriphyllin will help a lot. Do give me further chance to assist in future.
