Hello Dr. Rynne, question, I have RA for over 30 years, I was taken Sulfalizine for 25 years and it gave me acute pancreatitis last May, my RA Dr has not given me another anti-flamory drug to take, is there anything I can get over the counter to help with all the swelling? I am 64 yrs, wk in accounting at shipyard, sell Mary Kay, so yes I am on the move all the time...I watch my salt intake and drink lots of water, maybe I coke a day. Thank Wanda B

Hello,

If you're suffering from pancreatitis then you may have to change alternate medication for rheumatoid arthritis. Like methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine or leflunomide etc.

Please get it done serum amylase or lipase complete haemoglobin and blood sugar, ultrasound abdomen and CT scan abdomen. Use tablet pantoprazole before breakfast for one.

Please consult your rheumatologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
