Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have mild prostatitis, found by having excess white blood cells in my urine. My PSA is 0.5 which is normal. Hopefully that is a sign that I probably don t have prostrate cancer. What drug isnormally prescribed to treat this. I have been experiencing pain when I urinate or when my bladder is full.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The treatment is based on the cause. A rectal exam and test urine samples are needed to find out the cause. An antibiotic is used to treat prostatitis that is caused by an infection. Some antibiotics that might be used are doxycycline or ciprofloxacin. You should consult your doctor about this treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
