How Can Persistent Cough And Indigestion Be Treated?

i am 82 years old in very good health. i do smoke 1/2 pk per day. I was given an Inhaler 07/2016 for Congestion, cough & shortness of breath & wheezing. The side effects keeps me from taking this medication which leads to my issue now. A persistent cough with a clear oral discharge for last 6 months. Upon coughing I become nauseated with heartburn and indigestion. The oral discharge has never been of color & always clear. Can you please advise what your thoughts are Dr. Thank you

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You are having indigestion and heart burn issue. So because of acid reflux cough can occur. For that Rabeprazole can be prescribed. I suggest you to consult pulmonologist for examination and get investigated with chest X-ray for further work up.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
