How Can Pancreatitis Be Treated?

Diagnosed with pancreatitis 8yrs ago...many ERCP with stent placement etc. Malnutrition, diabetes, neck sx due to malnutrition, bone lossand so on. Had ERCP on Monday to remove stones in duct, unable to get guide wire in as completely blocked and more calcification. Meet at Dr office next week to discuss options. Said sx to remove calcified area would be one option but is risky with all of my issues. How is this sx done... with scope? recovery etc?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This may indicate chronic pancreatitis which is caused either by alcohol consummation or biliary stones. In most cases it can be regulated by medications which include Insulin supplements and enzymes for digestion Also alcohol is forbidden in these cases and you should eat less fatty food, less sugar and more vegetables and boiled food. Also, avoid Cytotoxic medications. If there is no improvement then surgical therapy may be considered and include drainage procedures or pancreas resection. This is last option and you should consult your doctor about this.

Hope I have answered your query.
