General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Shingles give neuritic pain and take time to settle with the time period. The medicine prescribed in form of tramadol is the best pain reliever and I would request not to opt for another OTC painkiller to mess up the issue with drug interactions.

The ointment has to be applied over the affected parts three times a day with sterile hands or gloves. Supportive prescription of neurologic agents as Pregabalin or Methylcobalamin will help greatly in pain relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
