How Can Non-alcoholic Cirrhosis Of The Liver Be Treated?

I have diagnosed with non-alcholic cihhrosis of the liver, I also have varicis. I have had 19 bands applied in the last 4 months. Would I be a candidate for a TIPS shunt to reduce the portal blood pressure? I am 68 years old and very active. I have had to quit several activites, including golf, due to the strain it is putting on the esophagus. Your input will be greatly valued.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You are having cirrhosis and portal hypertension due to that. For reducing portal hypertension you can be operated for TIPSS placement which will be beneficial in reducing portal hypertension. Meanwhile take low salt diet for reducing pressure Beta blocker also can be prescribed for reducing portal hypertension Ultimate treatment for cirrhosis is liver transplantation if feasible. Take grind spinach and carrot juice daily for cirrhosis. Eat fruits, eat more onion, Indian gooseberry, spinach, turmeric powder etc. Consult general surgeon for examination and further treatment plan accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
