How Can Inflammation And Itching On The Scalp Be Treated?

Hi! I am a 69 year old female who by all accounts of everyone who knows/meets me, always say I look 10-15 years younger (long auburn hair; colored, 5 1 , not overweight and smooth skin with hardly a wrinkle. Over the past 6 months I have experienced exacerbated psoriasis like symptoms primarily on my scalp, but often on localized parts of my back and upper chest. These symptoms include: major inflammation, itching and scaling. This past few days I was horrified to see patches on the crown of my head where hair used to be. Any advice you have to offer would be greatly appreciated. Rosie White YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Seems more likely to be fungal infection of the scalp.

However, if you can provide a high-resolution photograph of the lesion, better layout of the condition can be possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
